Why Utah is the Happiest Place on Earth

I stayed with my sister Nicole for a weekend at BYU. I learned much of college life: no one cares if you don't go to class, if you don't sleep, if you don't eat.. You're pretty much a free bird! As long as you pay your rent. BYU is a huge campus, Nicole says everyday she sees tons of people she's never laid eyes on before. That wasn't reassuring. Friends slash acquaintances are two of my most favorite things!

Nicole set me up on a blind date the second night I stayed with her. Alex Morgan is an RM, an ex gymnast and genuinely a nice guy. Also, he's 5'4". Yes, that's why my hilarious sister picked him for me.

Singles ward isn't what I thought it would be, I was picturing more of a hubbub since I was that week's fresh meat. And I can honestly say I missed the sobbing toddlers of my usual congregation. But Sunday school was bomb.com! The topic of discussion was how to prepare for eternal marriage or some mumbo jumbo like that, it was a very satisfying lesson! Exactly what I imagined a singles ward to be.


This is the result of a Sunday in Provo with nothing very interesting to do. Most of the apartment was napping, but my creative juices were flowing! I made a mural on Nicole & Ariel's mirror, of the many mischievous things we accomplished that weekend.

We hit up an Institute dance at UVU, it was basically the same as a stake dance but on a much larger scale. With more attractive people =) I told the boys (scratch that, MEN) I danced with that I went to ASU back home in good ol' Arizona, because high school students were strictly not allowed. It was commented that I was very "cute", I suspect it had something to do with my age compared to the other girlies in the room...!

Nicole has no car up at the Y, a tangent she will go off on without fail. Riding this puppy around for a day was a dream come true for me, I'd never ridden a city bus before. Utah is like Disneyland!
College life is exciting, though not as exciting as I thought. Sure you're free to go and do as you please, but there isn't always something to go to or do. But I love the idea of roomies and wards, friends becoming your almost-as-good family, it sounds like a heckuhva good time! All in all it was an experience to remember. But for now, I think I'll milk living at home for all its worth.
