Today in relief society we learned all about spiritual gifts.
Our talents, our faith, our specific promptings.
It makes me think about all of the many gifts I've been given.

I love helping people.
I love being around others & making them feel like two hundred bucks.
{let's be realistic here, you could do a lotta damage with two hundred bucks!}
 being new in town here, and now moving so soon already,
i haven't been as aware of others as I could be.

but i don't want to make excuses, i want to do what i love!
& i want you to, too.
i challenge us to help someone this week.
whether it be a warm smile, a plate of cookies, or a christmas dinner for the needy.
service is the most fun there is, after all!

it's like a castle, only way cooler.

trav & i visited the temple yesterday, 

tuesdays are the very best of days, after all.

i love to see the temple! I love the peace that is all around and the many answers I receive to my many, many questions. & going with the husband makes it all the more sweet. 

oh how i love the gospel! i am so grateful for the truth & blessings that surround me everyday.

yesterday i could just feel that Christ loves me, very much. i was a happy girl.

i like this skirt very much, because it makes me feel rather "mary tyler moore". and trav thinks his grandparents had an old couch that was made out of the same material, and i almost got offended.

they would add so much to any bookshelf. my heart is yearning. basically.

& last but not least, i want to have my gallery wall. finished. 

mostly i just want a wall for my gallery to go on... but that's another story. i can't wait to look back on my finished project and smile.

what a fun adventure it will be.

what i really want for christmas, is to see my sweet nubs in arizona,

 to get a nice, long kiss from the man of my dreams,

& to remember that babe in a manger and the fact that he lives. 

oh what a wonderful christmas this will be.

my first snow day

so much for fashion's sake. my fashionablities went out the window today, as i went no where at all {except for work. which requires a uniform. and is less fashionable than this ensemble}. today in boise town, we celebrated a snow day!

my very first snow day, to be exact. 

and yes, i am very proud!

i drove in snow for the very first time & was very scared, but i did great! and afterwards travis decided that we need new tires. i wonder if that means i didn't drive as well as i thought? 

anyway the day was lovely & filled with feelings of snow-glittered bliss.

i'm not sure what to say today. i got a letter from my brovs yesterday, and skipped around the apartment filled with glee before i remembered to read the thing. he's doing good, by the way. {smile}

i'm at school right now, typing away & facing the windows.

it's snowing. and makes me want to eat something made of gingerbread.

oh by the way, t & i leave for arizona & family & QT hot cocoa in 20 days.

today i had the day off from work! hurray!

hahaha! haha... ha.

no... i didn't. but i did work at 5 in the am.

i actually prefer it this way, i love our regulars.

 & apparently it snowed & snowed & snowed last night while we were sleeping,

because i was the very first to make footprints in the snow. {lifts her chin & smiles proudly}

life lessons

this week i made myself a patch of egg salad.
i. love. egg salad.

oh my goodness.

there is nothing better!

mmm. come to mama.
as my taste buds were positively squirming with delight,
i remember just why i have a passion for a tea party sandwich. 

the year was 2000 & i was in fifth grade. it was lunch time, and Mrs. Gruenberg's class had just made themselves comfortable on the long tables of the cafeteria. Brittney Stapleton sat across from me, and had just displayed the contents of her lunch pale to the table.
"ewww yuck!" she exclaimed, as if a ziploc of cockroaches had mistakenly landed in her lunch.
"my mom made me egg salad."
by the look on her face, you knew this was bad mojo.
today was the day she would let herself starve.

now, i had a bit of a conundrum with this. i loved egg salad. more than any other lunchtime staple. it was my manna, the day mom made us egg salad was always a blessed day. but, was i wrong? being the little fifth grader i was, i didn't know what was cool. should i agree with her, and turn my back on my lovely egg salad? would that make me cool? but then i'd always have to turn down egg salad at school. what a waste. and it is hard to keep up with a lie, i learned that when i told Olivia Baker that i had a pet giraffe and seven bathrooms in my house. but, i want to be cool. and i should be like the other cool girls to be cool,right?
tentatively i opened my own lunch and said, "want to trade me for a tuna fish?"

"oh yes! tuna fish is the best!" said Brittney.
as we swapped lunches, i had a big smile on my face. sucker! 
in my opinion, tuna fish was the scum of the earth. and smelled worse.

on that day i learned that it isn't really cool to do what other people do.
i can be cool too, by just trying to be me. it's okay to be a little bit different.
all thanks to a simple egg salad sandwich.

on this lovely morn when i skipped home from work,

trav was still in bed. 

{que the angelic chorus! this never happens.}

you better believe i jumped all over him until he opened his groggy little eyes!

and after my morning-time singing stopped, {wait for it...}

i made him breakfast. him!

this is a big deal, guys.

you must understand, this doesn't happen. ever.

usually, i dream my little head away all morning long, and the macho man brings me breakfast.

 because he is oh so kind.

i know, he rocks. 

& i should just be grateful, right?

i mean, doesn't every girl swoon for a man in an apron?

but really. this has gone far enough. 

i've tried to change, i have! 

 everytime i even think about sneaking out of bed before him, he wakes up and says, "Oh good morning, princess!" and we cuddle. and whisper our sweet nothings to each other while trying not to breathe in the other's face. and i'm secretly cursing his early-morning habits in my head.

it's a vicious cycle.

but today, i had fun

taking care of my loving husband just how i've always dreamed.

so instead i dove into the drivers seat at the first sign of wind,

and entertained myself by eating sunflower seeds & making faces at him via the window while he shivered.

but, then i got lazy.

the other day t & i waited ever so patiently in line at the Social Security Department.
