just a few things

first, i shivered when i walked outside today. WHAT?
winter is upon us, dudes.
 luckily it hasn't snowed in little boise yet, but it will.
 i feel it in my bones.

second, yesterday travis discovered we have a heater.
three months of cold feet & being too scared to get out of the shower,
and we had a heater all along.
i am so glad i married the man.

third, our heater makes a clicking noise.
it sounds something akin to rain on a window pane,
i run to the window sill everytime.
darn tricky heater.

fourth, i teach the cutest little girls in my swimming classes.
we're best friends.
today i was asked, "Do you have a boyfriend?"
"Well, no," I say, " but I do have a husband."
"Ohhhhhh!!" they giggle, and they were off.
Do you kiss him?
Did you were a dress like Gizelle?
Did you have a flower girl?
Do you have a big ring?
Do you love him?
Do you sleep with--

right about then, i cut them off. & told them to practice their backstroke.
little princesses they are. {smile}

fifth, i got a new scent for my scentzy {tropical tango}
& our apartment is basically hawaii.

that is all.
peace & love

last week after leaving albertons,

i made a wrong turn on my way home.
{there's so many dangflabbit one-way streets around here}
i got a little lost. but what i found was a cabillion (word? probably not!) times better.

i found fall.
say it with me. "oh oh pretttty!"

little arizona girls like me think we know what fall is, but we don't.
fall is when you eat too much candy & a month later, you eat too much everything else.
fall may also have included ditching the shorts for pants, but never the flip-flops. the flip-flops stayed.

but oh-ho-ho was i wrong: fall is beauty, everywhere.
oh. my. goodness. dare i say it, but i'm starting to fall in love with ye olde boise.
& yes, i did dress up to go grocery shopping. sue me. {giggles}

bee tea dubs, last night trav made us an exquistitely gourmet salmon dinner under candle-light.
it was fetching awesome!
sometimes it really cheezes me off that he's a better cook than i.
but not last night. holy hannahs.
anyway,
i hope you have a fall-type day!

today is jeans & a tee shirt day

the kind of day when you hair is in a knot atop your head,
& you forget to wear a bra to Goodwill.
at least it is for me.

today the only reason i feel pretty is because of the wedding ring on my finger, and my long eyelashes i took the time to curl. and it's more than enough. {smile}

now, i'm off to work! trav is making dinner tonight,
i am ubers excited.
food always tastes better when you're not the one cooking it.
wouldn't you agree?

last weekend was filled with happy thoughts

i'll get around to posting about it soon-ish.
for now i really have nothing more to say, except for these:
last night trav, mama-in-law & i wasted three hours of our lives on this website.
it's worth it. if you're patient {which i'm not} or if you're into paying 5 buckos for an ipad. {which i kind of am}

i believe in kissing. i believe in choco chip banana bread. i believe in Christ.
i believe this is the cutest photo i've ever been in:

don't smile. try your hardest.

other than that, my hair looks mega good today.
that is all.

today is from the heavens.

everything about today, is wonderful.
especially after a week as hecka lame as this one...
today felt like ice cream. mixed with banana chunks. and sprinkles. yes.

in honor of how grateful i am that the Lord sent me today,
it's glad game time!
here's a top ten list
of why i'm glad.
sometimes it's fun to play Pollyanna.

1. i'm grateful for smiling.
& the fact that EVERYONE responds to a smile.

2. i'm grateful for a job that i can walk to,
& pick lovely little fall florals for my hubs along the way!

3. i'm grateful for a husband who wakes up at 5am to walk me to work
just so i won't be alone. {smile}
& he doesn't tell me to shut it
even when he's groggy
& i'm... chatty. {triple smile}

4. i'm grateful that my hair flower ribbon is overFLOWIN with loveliness
these babies are becoming my claim to fame.

5. general conference is this weekend.
ohh how i love to hear the words of the prophets.
revelation that WE get to hear, that so many people get to hear.
everyday, it amazes me just how much the Lord loves us.

6. i'm grateful that i'm still hot.
see this post for deets.

7. i'm grateful for my scentsy and that it makes our apartment smell like fall.
also, my power ranger antique-ish vases
that my mama sita let me inherit. {air punch}
thanks mama sita

8. i'm grateful for yard sales.
& their willingness to grant me my curtains,
which i love.
& would cry without.

9. i'm grateful to roadtrip it up with Trav this weekend.
holy much-needed-vacation, batman.
los photos WILL ensue.

10. i'm grateful for Boise
for all the flowers & cute houses
the warm weather, the lack of wind
& that i can still wear flippies with bows. whenever i want.

what are you grateful for?

asian kids are crawesome.

crawesome = crazy awesome.

anyway!

today, i was studying at school.
buried in my laptop, book open, furrowed eyebrows. i meant business.
then, out of allll the empty seats, asian boy sat next to me.
*hand extended* "Hello, I'm Daniel. Who are you?*
"Umm... I'm Lauren."

" Hi Lauren. I'm writing a novel about anime characters. I want to make Ellen Page the main character. I made my elementary school librarian the antagonist. I see you have a power ranger sticker on your computer, i watch power rangers all the time. My favorite episode is..."

yeah. YEAH.
the entirely one-sided conversation became steadily more flirty as it went on.
basically, Daniel was exercising his "game".
& i did not know what to say.

i sat with my left hand positively PLASTERED to my face,
hoping the lighting would reflect off of my ring into his glasses.
no luck.

when he left,
he ended with a suave, "so maybe the next time I see you I can add you on facebook. I always like to add new friends, since I don't do anything else very important on there."

umm. ok.

when he left, EVERYONE in the room turned to me with a
"ohhhh you poor girl! you were so nice! gosh i could NOT stop laughing in my mind!"
yeah. it was that bad.

oh boy. at least....
 i've still got it goin' on. {wink}

i love this picture.

justtttt throwin' that out there.

bee tea dubs,
trav bought a new used car.
it has red interior so yeah, it's an oldie.
but that's ok. cause we're bringing red back into car fashion.
ohhhh baby. it's gonna be hot-t-t!

curtain rods ROCK.

when you're married,
sometimes friday nights look like this:

& sometimes, your incredible husband slops on an apron & takes care of it for you.
score!

so today, trav & i went to Walmart to purchase a curtain rod.
because i have the cutest curtains in the known world,
& i need to hang them.
{let it be known that i have purchased 5 different rods at this point, all of which have failed me.}
{fist of rage!}

& so! there we were,
discussing curtain rods.

"this one will work!"
"but it's just like the other one."
"well... i think i broke the other one."
"you what?"

basically, we didn't know what we were doing.
we discussed a little loudly, with a confused tone in our voices, & quizzical looks on our faces
when we heard a muffled, squeaky squawk.

we looked over to the woman next to us & she was staring
in our direction, hand clasped over her mouth, trying to stifle her laughs.
she was totes laughing at us!
"ha! i'm sorry!" she said between fits of laughter," you two are just so funny!"

she proceeded to say that she was exactly where we were when she was 1st married,
& that we were a super cute couple.
with her help, we helped picked out a curtain rod just right for us.

moral of the story:
talk loud enough, old-ish women will laugh at you, and you get a curtain rod.

the end!

i tend to sleep in.

travis tends to wake me up.
his tactics have gotten a tad extreme...

good morning to you too, pookie.

gooooooood morning!

I woke up this morning to a kiss from the husband,
and 2 whole glorious hours before I even think about leaving for school!
We moved in to our new apartment this week.
It's a brick {duh-nuh-nuh-nuh} HOUSE! && it's super cute & spacious.
& we can steal internet from duh neighbors. holla-lujah!

right now, it's a mess of empty boxes from wedding gifts {thank you very much, bee tea dubs}
& my clothing. strewn everywhere.
it vaguely resembles a memory i have from freshman year...
hahahaa. Oh how i miss BYU-I.
my favorite girls have all moved-in and cute-ified their apartments by now! my heart is yearning for them!
& for katie's bottom. katie has the NICEST booty ev-ah. like whoa. & madiSON's smoker laugh.
& MOgan's sweat pants. & Chana's handstand tendencies. oh man.

anyway, once I get a working camera i will post pictures of duh apartment!
and they will be attractive.
holla.

ohhh side note:
we bought a printer.
it's big, bulky & black.
i named her LoNiqua.
& i like her.

it's labor day

& i'm going to a football-watching-party tonight!
don't worry. i think it's weird, too
& no, I don't know what I'm supposed to do there.
cheer when everyone else does and eat the food, right?
this'll be fun.{smile}

in the life of lauren

i start school on tuuuuuuuesday! & i already have an essay due-- the joys of being an english major. rock on!
trav & i are starting to feel the "wa-wa-waaaaaa" of livin' with the in-laws
so... we went apartment hunting today. again.
& since everything good that happens to us comes from craigslist, {example: our car, our king size mattress, my WEDDING DRESS...} it's the first place we looked.
& there's been some really nice apartments for us to look at!
& some really. really. bad ones.
like, one ad featured a toilet covered in a furry blue carpet-like cover.
& that's IT.
ummm... yes please?

{ insert news anchor voice} in other news,
my best friendie Jet is in Boise for the weekend!

as consequence, there is now a Halo 3 palooza in our home
it's lasted 4 hours & still going strong. oi.
good thing i've found a copy of The Hunger Games.

yes, i've given in to the crowd.
yes, i'm glad. this book rules.
it's better than Twilight i'd say
because Katniss Everdeen kicks ACE & eats leaves.
can you say hardcore?
cha.

lately,

my mommy-in-law Mela snipped my hair.
i now have Lizzie McGuire inspired buh-bangs again!
oh lizzie. how i revere you.

lately, because i don't have a job, i have plenty of time to visit Trav at work!
& to persuade Ross to give me a ride on the forklift
& to mess around with these boys, for, let's face it, way too long.
see the hottie with the guitar?
that's my hubbins. {giggle}

lately, Trav has begun to make picture frames.
& they look amazing!
not that you can tell from the photo.
trust me. i yearn for the day that i get a functional camera, too.
but for reals! i think he could make some serious buckos off of them. taaaaaalented!

lately, i've admitted that i have a problem.
i have a pillow fetish.
they're just so soft & pretty! ohhhhmyyyyygooooosh.
i found this little beauty on clearance at Target & i almost threw up with joy.
it was calling my name. maybe singing it.
ohhhh.
i love cute pillows. {smile}

today is one of those days

where you wake up,
& realize you accidently slept in till 12:30. oops!
anyway. today's been killer so far.
i shaved my legs!
{trav will be happy}

& i've eaten nothing but preztel m&m's since i've awoken.
& i plan on keeping it that way.

soooo i still haven't started work.
hence the morning-is-the-afternoon feeling i've had as of lately.
but! me & some friendies are going to the temple tonight. so i don't feel remotely as bad about being a bum. {chuckle}

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

hello tuesday.

i worked twelve hours today.
5:30 am to 7:30 pm. {with a few breaks in between.}

i'm dying.
i'm at natuka's house.
luckily, he let me scrounge ghirardelli choco chips out of his fridge.
& now i'm happy.

yet dying.

bee tea dubs, i haven't showered in three days.
chlorine is officially my new fragrance.

i know this little boy,

he's cute.
but not that cute.

this little ball of semi-cuteness is named Noah,
& he is a 3-year-old in one of my swimming classes.

Everyday Noah gets dropped off by his mommy
& he sobs until he gets picked up again.
yes ladies & gents, we have ourselves a crier.

as he sobs, Noah tends to stuff both fists into his slobber mouth.
he also likes to hold my hand.

see the problem here?

i am sick.
i blame Noah.

i left work early yesterday & haven't left my bed since...
mazeltov. ugh.

I'm excited for the day when I can be a little wifey. I want to make eggs and pancakes for breakfast, I want to get the newspaper every morning before my husband gets up. I'll have the sports section ready for him! I can't wait for a house of my own that I can decorate, to turn the music up so loud the neighbor's will want to call the police when I clean. I want to have my own little cookbook that I just use all the time, I want to take care of my baby's boo-boos and sing to him when he cries. To make a truck load of family traditions, to help make their childhood wonderful. I want to wear aprons!! I want to take care of my own little loved ones =)
Ohh goodness, I can't wait!

The Little Things

Jared Bohne recently got surgery on his foot. He's been taking painkillers up the wazoo, and has been saying some very entertaining things in consequence. Because he's become a bit of a gimp, he's turned to a life of video games. I believe his latest time racked up has totaled 14 days, 10 hrs and 20 min, respectfully. Some may know, when playing a game on x box live you have the opportunity to chat with, actually talk to, whatever team mates you are playing with at the time. Actual people, who can be from anywhere.
Jared let me talk to his friends.
I felt so special! Before I got on Jared warned me that many of these guys didn't really have experience talking to girls, but that didn't stop me. I grabbed the headphones and immediantly heard 5 or so male voices in my head. I asked them how their Christmas Eve was going! None of them were really sure what to say.
This act alone made my day!!! I felt honored just for the chance to try the headphones on.
Its little things like that, that make my life a lovely thing to live.
